Joshua Alexander

Joshua Alexander helps global aviation clients complete financings, acquisitions, dispositions and leasing transactions around the world. He works with airlines, banks, leasing companies and other investors to manage risk and close deals efficiently.

Josh leads the structuring of complex deal terms, including title, ownership and security arrangements. He coordinates with local counsel to support multijurisdictional transactions and ensure that each deal aligns with client goals. His experience includes work with Asian, European and Latin American carriers, as well as U.S., Irish and Chinese lessors.

As a former in-house lawyer at Qatar Airways, Josh brings a deep understanding of the contracts and relationships between airlines and manufacturers of aircraft, engines and components. He also has worked with corporate and commercial jet transactions, helicopter deals and several of the industry’s leading manufacturers. Clients appreciate his balanced perspective and ability to keep the focus on the most important aspects of each deal.

In addition to his transactional work, Josh assists clients with ad hoc contract and leasing issues. His commercially-focused approach helps preserve important industry relationships.

Experience

• Assisted Macquarie AirFinance with its acquisition of a portfolio of 75 aircraft from ALAFCO.
• Assisted Virgin Atlantic with a French-optimized lease of an A350 funded with a senior loan led by three lenders (Natixis, MUFG and La Banque Postale) and backed by an insurance product provided by Itasca MGA as insurer agent, and a junior loan arranged by Novus Aviation Capital.
• Assisted JetSMART in connection with an A320 family sale and leaseback transaction with German Operating Aircraft Leasing (GOAL).
• Assisted Macquarie Rotorcraft with an acquisition of a 12 helicopter portfolio (leased to six customers) from Milestone Aviation Group.
