Andrew Figueroa is a member of Vedder’s Complex Commercial Litigation and Government Investigations & White Collar Defense groups.
He has handled cases involving business disputes, breach of contract, defamation, fraud, corporate liability, and securities, and secured victories for his clients in both federal and state court.
Andrew takes an active role in each of his matters. He has won at trial and arbitration, briefed and won appeals, and has briefed, argued, and won a range of motions in both federal and state court, including motions to dismiss, motions for summary judgment, motions to exclude expert opinions, motions to stay proceedings, and motions to compel discovery. Andrew has also taken and defended over a dozen of depositions.
Experience
- Served as counsel representing investment fund in connection with investigation by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
- In a confidential arbitration, defended a commercial loan lender in a commodity dispute with over a dozen claimants. Andrew played a pivotal role in obtaining a defense award on all claims after a weeks-long final arbitration hearing.
- Secured complete defense verdict as lead trial counsel in breach-of-contract dispute.
- Successfully obtained pleading stage dismissals in multiple cases involving a city official and the First Amendment.
- Briefed and won appeal affirming dismissal of defamation and privacy related claims.
- Served as co-counsel in trade secret and business dispute in Southern District of Florida, and successfully obtained summary judgment on majority of claims.
- Secured multiple final judgments for commercial lenders in disputes with borrowers.
