Jonathon represents businesses and individuals in industries including financial services, technology and fintech, and traditional and non-traditional media.  While he prioritizes efficient and effective solutions, Jonathon is an experienced trial lawyer and has taken numerous cases to verdict in courts and arbitration forums nationwide.  Jonathon has experience defending class actions, including through enforcement of arbitration agreements and class action waivers, and implementing novel strategies in the context of mass arbitrations.  He also regularly navigates executive transitions involving restrictive covenants, trade secrets, and unfair competition.

Drawing on his training as a journalist, Jonathon investigates facts rigorously, distills complex issues into clear narratives, and communicates effectively with his clients, courts, and regulators. Jonathon remains focused on achieving the client’s business goals, mitigating risk, and minimizing disruption to the client, regardless of the scale of the dispute.

  • Achieved an acquittal in a multi-week federal jury trial involving alleged $245 million securities fraud.
  • Obtained a complete defense judgment in FINRA arbitration seeking a multimillion-dollar award against a financial services firm for alleged fraud, breaches of contract, and breaches of fiduciary duties.
  • Obtained a dismissal with prejudice of a putative class action against a financial technology company.
  • Obtained summary judgment on copyright infringement claims on behalf of an independent production company related to a sports documentary.
  • Defended multiple mass arbitrations involving thousands of claimants.
  • Represented a high-profile athlete in an investigation into misappropriated personal assets and the resulting litigations.
  • Obtained a dismissal with prejudice of claims against a non-profit organization alleging breaches of fiduciary duty and bylaws violations.
  • Successfully negotiated numerous executive transitions involving restrictive covenants.
  • Advised on dozens of data security incident responses involving ransomware, phishing, and hacking.
