Nusra Ismail is an attorney in Vedder’s Litigation practice area and a member of the Government Investigations and White Collar Defense group, representing companies and executives in complex investigations and high-stakes litigations.
She advises clients on SEC and DOJ actions, including those involving accusations of securities fraud and insider trading. Nusra also defends clients in private class action securities and derivative litigations, delivering strategic solutions that protect business operations and reputations. Beyond her securities-related practice, Nusra represents clients in a wide-range of commercial litigation involving breach of contract or fiduciary duty claims, focusing on outcomes that align with her clients’ business goals.
As part of her regulatory work, clients trust Nusra to counsel them with respect to enhancing policies and procedures and supporting them through examinations. Companies also rely on Nusra to guide them through the ever-changing data privacy and cybersecurity regulatory landscape, as well as counsel them through cybersecurity incidents in ways that mitigate risk.
Committed to service, Nusra volunteers as a guardian ad litem through Chicago Volunteer Legal Services and supports the firm’s Pro Bono Committee, leveraging her legal experience to deliver impact beyond the courtroom.
Experience
- Successfully obtained a termination letter from the SEC closing a multiyear investigation of a global fund services provider
- Secured a termination letter from the SEC closing an investigation into an investment adviser whose former chief compliance officer misled SEC staff during examination
- Successfully obtained dismissal of litigation against investment company and its independent trustees in breach of contract suit seeking tens of millions of dollars
