Geoffrey Kass works with operating companies, lessors, investors, airlines, financiers and others in the transportation and finance industries to buy, sell, finance and lease hard assets and companies.
Balancing legal considerations and client business priorities, he structures commercial aviation, railcar, equipment leasing and general finance deals. Geoff manages wide-ranging global transactions involving commercial and private aircraft, railcars, buses, l equipment and various facilities, including manufacturing, and electricity and gas generation and distribution. Drawing on over three decades of experience, he knows the markets, trends, issues, risks and how to get deals done. Taking a collaborative approach, he works toward achieving results that keep all parties' business needs and goals in mind.
Repeatedly recognized as a leader in the field, Geoff’s deals have been transformative for his clients and their industries, from Macquarie’s $2 billion aircraft acquisition from American International Group and its $4 billion aircraft acquisition from AWAS and Terra Firma to Castlelake LP’s private securitization of a portfolio of 79 aircraft leased to 26 different lessees located in 17 countries.
Experience
- Represented Macquarie in its acquisition of the Kuwait-based aircraft lessor ALAFCO. This multi-billion dollar transaction took over two years, starting as a portfolio acquisition and evolving to the acquisition of the leasing company. The acquisition was a critical element of Macquarie's growth strategy, ultimately enabling Macquarie to achieve an investment-grade credit rating.
- Represented GA Telesis in its acquisition of AAR's landing gear overhaul subsidiary. This transaction was a significant strategic acquisition, enhancing GA Telesis's position as an industry leader in aviation support services.
